The Strengthened Code of Practice on Disinformation: a new “source of law”?

Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollicino will speak at the seminar on the Code of Conduct against disinformation, organized by the Center for Media, Pluralism, and Freedom at the European University Institute.
The seminar aims to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of self-regulatory and co-regulatory mechanisms to deal with online disinformation, the nature of the Code of Conduct as a source of law, the Code's connections with the DSA, the governance options proposed by the European strategy to deal with disinformation, also taking into account the possible consequences on citizens' fundamental rights.
The Professor will give a keynote speech together with Dr. Giovanni De Gregorio, University of Oxford; the debate will be introduced by Prof. Elda Brogi, EUI, and Member of the Executive Board of EDMO, European Digital Media Observatory, and by Prof. Andrea Simoncini, University of Florence.

Il Professore illustrerà la tematica assieme al Dott. De Gregorio, Post-doc presso l’Università di Oxford. L’incontro è ospitato dallo European Law Institute (ELI) e verrà moderato dal Prof. Christoph Busch, Università di Osnabrück, e dal Prof. Alberto De Franceschi, Università di Ferrara e KU Leuven.

Oreste Pollicino will join today a new meeting of the “ELI Digital Law Speaker Series” which, on this occasion, will be dedicated to “Tackling Disinformation through Procedural Safeguards: The European Union Approach in the Digital Services Act”. The Professor will illustrate the topic together with Dr. De Gregorio, Post-doc at the University of Oxford.
The meeting is hosted by the European Law Institute (ELI) and will be moderated by Prof. Christoph Busch, University of Osnabrück, and Prof. Alberto De Franceschi, University of Ferrara and KU Leuven.

Il Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollicino interverrà all’evento “L’utilizzo dell’intelligenza artificiale per il contrasto del crimine finanziario” organizzato dal Gruppo Intesa San Paolo in occasione della costituzione dell’Anti Financial Crime Digital Hub – società consortile promossa da Intesa Sanpaolo con Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, Università degli Studi di Torino, Politecnico di Torino e CentAI (Center of Artificial Intelligence) con l’obiettivo di utilizzare l’intelligenza artificiale nel contrasto al crimine finanziario.

Webinar ‘L’utilizzo dell’intelligenza artificiale per il contrasto del crimine finanziario’

Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollicino will speak at the event “The use of Artificial Intelligence to combat financial crime” organised by the Intesa San Paolo Group on the occasion of the establishment of the Anti Financial Crime Digital Hub - a consortium company promoted by Intesa Sanpaolo with the Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, University of Turin, Turin Polytechnic and CentAI (Center of Artificial Intelligence) with the aim of using artificial intelligence to combat financial crime. The Professor will take part in the panel discussion which will be moderated by journalist Maria Latella, and will also be joined by Prof. Paolo Benanti, Extraordinary Professor Pontifical Gregorian University, Piero Boccassino, Chief Compliance Officer Intesa Sanpaolo, Mario Rasetti, Chairman CentAI Scientific Committee, and Pres. Luciano Violante, Leonardo Foundation.
Legal Studies Award
Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollicino has been conferred the Legal Studies Award by Università Commerciale L. Bocconi for his monograph “Judicial Protection of Fundamental Rights on the Internet. A Road Towards Digital Constitutionalism?”, published by Hart Publishing. The purpose of the award is to give visibility and recognition to individual research products having characteristics of absolute and recognized excellence.
